Homework Due 11/30-12/4

Basic Writing High School: Essay on cell phone use is due on Monday 11/30. Remember I did not require a specific page length or word count but you will be graded on all of the items on the handout.

GROUP 5 BLUE

Monday 11/30

  • History Chapter 8 Workbook pages due. Quiz on Chapter 7 and 8.
  • If you did not pass in your Science outline for Chapter 2 Sections 1 and 2 and the questions for those sections last Wednesday when it was due today is the last day I will accept that homework.
  • Select a new independent reading book and bring it to school.

Tuesday 12/1

  • Wordly Wise Unit 9 Activities Due. Wordly Wise Crossword and Quiz.

Wednesday 12/2

  • Science Outline Chapter 2 Sections 3 and 4 due. Questions for sections 3 and 4 due as well.
Friday 12/4
  • Actively read "A Summer's Reading" We discussed what active reading is in class. Pay particular attention to "point of view" (First or third person) Highlight any vocabulary words that are new. Clues to setting, climax, antagonist and protagonist should be highlighted. You may be given a quiz on Friday:) If you were listening in class on Wednesday you know what the questions will be!!!

We have come up with a due date for the optional history extra credit. I thought I would post it now in case anyone wants to get started. The topic is: "Start Your Own Medieval Country." Students will design and specify their domain in a one page essay, single spaced, Arial font 12, 1" margins on top, bottom, and sides. This is due on January 6th.

November 16-November 20th

Note to Pre-Algebra/Algebra students. Please make sure you are using your graph paper notebooks. Your graph paper notebooks will count as a test grade for quarter 2. All calculations must be done in them in the proper format. See me if you have any questions.

Basic Writing High School:

Please complete pages in Writing Skills book on Compound subjects and predicates, semi-colons and conjunctive adverbs pp. 24-29. This is due on Monday.

I am also still waiting on two things from many of you.
  • Your revised introduction
  • Your 2000 word essay in response to Maya Angelou's quote: "When someone shows themself to you believe them."
  • If you owe me these assignments or were asked to revise either please have them in to me by Monday 11/16 in order to get credit.

    Group 5 Blue:

    Monday 11/16:
  • History: Read Chapter 7 and complete workbook pages. We will be discussing Chapter 7 and 8 in class. I realize that some pages say to respond to a picture your teacher shows you. I did not show you any pictures but you can still answer the questions.
  • Writing: Work on Funny story for at least 30 minutes.

    Tuesday 11/17
  • Wordly Wise: Chapter 8 Activities Due. Quiz on Chapter 8.
  • Writing: Complete Funny Story

    Wednesday 11/18
  • Writing: Final Draft of the Funny Story is due.
  • Science: Read Chapter 2 and complete questions for Section 1 p.53 and section 2 p. 63

    5B POT LUCK LUNCH: In order to celebrate the completion of our writing project Group 5 Blue will have a pot luck lunch. All students will sign up to bring in something yummy to share. The students worked very hard on this assignment and deserve to have their efforts rewarded with some food and fun!

    Thursday:
  • Writing: Writing Skills complete the pages on writing paragraphs: pgs. 33-36. For exercise 2 on page 35 choose one.

    Friday:
    Writing: Respond to the following question about Food Incorporated.
  • Pretend you are grocery shopping for your family. Pick 10 items you would select at the grocery store and 10 items you would not pick at the grocery store in order to create healthy meals and snacks for your family for one week. Let me know how you would prepare this food and why you made the choices you made. This should be two pages, single-spaced, 12 pt Ariel Font, 1 inch margins.

High School Basic Writing: Paper that Pam assigned is due. I will also be correcting the revised introductions that were due last week.

Group 5 Blue:

Monday:
  • History Quiz on Chapters 5 and 6. Workbook pages that go with those two chapters are also due.
  • Work for 30 minutes on funny story. I will be collecting your drafts that were due of Friday today since I forgot to get them on Friday.

Tuesday: No School - professional development day for teachers.
  • Work for 30 minutes on funny story.

Wednesday - No school - Veteran's Day.
  • Work for 30 minutes on your funny story.

Thursday
  • Writing Skills Pages Due.
  • Work for 30 minutes on your funny story.

Friday
  • Work for 30 minutes on your funny story.

2nd Quarter Starts today!!!

High School


Basic Writing: Take an old introduction and revise it according to the guidelines I gave you in class. Pass in the two introductions together for grading on Monday.

Algebra/Pre-Algebra: You will have homework every night Monday through Friday. If you are unsure what your homework is or unclear about how to do it please call me between 7:30-8:30 p.m. with questions.
